On July 28. a container ship "Sky Challenge" operated by CNC Line, an Asian subsidiary of CMA CGM, ran aground in Busan.

The Korea Coast Guard said that at 2:05 a.m. local time, the 1.900TEU ship "Sky Challenge" hit the breakwater while trying to berth, causing it to run aground.

According to S&P Global data, the Sky Challenge has just refueled at a Korea port.

It is known that the "Sky Challenge" is one of three ships deployed on the NKT route. The NKT service connects China, Korea, Thailand and Viet Nam, and calls at ports such as Incheon, Gwangyang, Busan, Hong Kong, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang and Ho Chi Minh City.

The vessel originally belonged to Korea feeder operator CK Line, but was sold to Korea Ship Finance in mid-2024 and continues to operate on a leaseback basis.

The Korea Coast Guard said it had rescued all 18 crew members on board, but fortunately no one was injured and there were no fuel leaks. At 7:40 a.m. that day, the Coast Guard towed the "Sky Challenge" off the breakwater. In addition, the cause of the accident is under investigation.

The ship was originally scheduled to head to Hong Kong after loading and unloading containers in Busan.
