Recently, Hapag-Lloyd's official website announced that from August 22. 2024. all containerized cargo from the Far East to Australia will be subject to peak season surcharge (PSS) until further notice.


Specific Notice and Charging Standards:


From China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Macau to Australia, effective August 22. 2024.


From Taiwan, China to Australia, effective September 6. 2024.


$500 per TEU for all container types.


In addition, on August 14. Hapag-Lloyd announced its financial results for the first half of the year.


The data shows that in the first half of 2024. the group's revenue will be 9.516 billion US dollars; Group EBITDA of USD 2 billion (EUR 1.8 billion); Group EBIT fell to 0.9 billion dollars (800 million euros); Group profit fell to US$800 million (700 million).


In the liner segment: traffic increased by 5% year-on-year to 6.1 million TEUs (1H 2023: 5.8 million TEUs).


Revenue for the first half of the year fell 14% to $9.3 billion (8.6 billion), mainly due to average freight rates lower than $1.391/TEU in the same period last year (1H1 2023: $1.761/TEU).


In this regard, the CEO of Hapag-Lloyd said: "Although we were not able to achieve the excellent results of last year, we achieved very good results in the first half of 2024 due to strong demand and rising spot prices.
